Why do I have to be so broke?

Just be thankful you can actually wear stylish shoes. My feet are very wide. The only shoes that fit me right are ugly practical ones.

Clarks? Same issue, and they work well for me. And I developed the 20/100 rule a long time ago and have, for the most part, stuck to it - no more than 20 grand for a car, no more than $100 for a pair of shoes. So let it be written, so let it be done.

I’ve become very wary of trying to order shoes online. I have to try them on first, which means I’m limited to whatever selection the shoe stores have.

I’m buying my dream shoes in a week and a bit, so there’s that.
I’m selling a pair or two to justify buying them.

Now I’m mad at you because those all look fantastic and I’m not supposed to be spending any money right now.

Weirdly I’ve recently gone the opposite way on shoes after buying clearance-rack Vans and Converse for years and years. I got tired of them falling apart after less than a year so I went out and splurged on something more substantial:
They weren’t cheap by any means, but by my estimation if they last five years (which, being Red Wings, they’ll easily do with proper care) it works out to be less than cycling through crappy sneakers.

OK - I’ll be at W 74th and Amsterdam. at 2am. You get two swings, then we go for hot dogs and drinks at Gray’s Papaya. You’re buying.

Online, get them, try them, if they don’t work return them. Just a trip to the post office.
